Disaster Relief & Recovery
Since 2004, YE’s Disaster Relief & Recover (DRR) Programme has provided both emergency relief and long-term recovery support in response to natural and human-caused disasters. To date, the program has directly delivered over 60 tons of essential food and non-food aid, constructed 125 permanent homes and a village center, and supported more than 26,100 families, reaching more than 104,400 individuals affected by disasters.
Some of the DRR responses include the 2004 Aceh earthquake and tsunami, 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake, 2006 and 2011 Jakarta floods, 2020 Sukajaya landslides, and 2021 West Sulawesi earthquake. A number of these responses are outlined in more detail below.
On New Year's day 2020, severe landslides hit communities throughout West Java. Over a period of 11 months and 63 visits, the Emmanuel Foundation provided over 40 tons of essential food and non-food items to 29,020 individuals in 7,200 families in 27 different communities.

The foundation provided over 20 tons of direct relief during the 2006 Jogjakarta earthquake that claimed 5,700 lives and destroyed 280,000 homes. The DRR programme continued supporting victims during the recovery and reconstruction process until the completion of 125 homes and a village center in 2007.

The foundation provided aid and support through its various social programmes during severe flooding in the capital city of Jakarta that put many parts of the city flooded with over two meters of water and displaced 40,000 people in both 2007 and 2011.
