Mobile Library Programme

The Mobile Library Programme (MLP) provides library facilities and books to disadvantaged schools and communities. Particularly in poorer areas, libraries are nonexistent even at the school level. This makes it very difficult for underprivileged children to improve their literacy while practicing and learning the joys of reading since most would not be able to afford to buy books from the store.

The MLP operates trucks with a specially retrofitted cargo area with over 13,500 donated books to thousands of children in the Bogor, Greater Bogor, and Jakarta area. An annual membership allows the children to check out and enjoy books, learn to appreciate the library and its books and develop a sense of ownership in the program.

Since November 2007, the MLP has provided access to books to over 154,990 children and mothers, 3,750 of whom have become permanent registered library members.
