Mobile Library Programme
The Mobile Library Programme (MLP) expands access to reading by providing library facilities and books to schools and disadvantaged communities where libraries are unavailable. In these areas, limited household income and the absence of reading materials restrict children’s ability to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading.
The MLP operates mobile library trucks with specially retrofitted cargo spaces carrying over 16,700 donated books, serving thousands of children across Bogor, Greater Bogor, and Jakarta. Children are introduced to library use, encouraged to read for enjoyment, and permitted to borrow books.
Since 2007, the MLP has provided access to books for more than 221,400 children and mothers, with 3,877 registered as permanent library members.
